Week: 21
Date: 24th August - 30th August

This week I have added in a few more elements into certain levels. As mentioned previously, I have added some animation for sir stamford raffles. But Mr CM told me that I could make it more realistic by making his tied up hands to fidget about. I have already amended it. He also gave me some opinion on level 3 scene. He told me to add in some stones on the ground and pathway so that people could actually know that it is the ground instead of mistaking it as a wall. He also told us to standardized every level's instructions and tutorial notes.

30th August 2009 Week 21

Name: Wee You

With the discussions we had last week, Meiyi sent me an update on the graphics. Hence, I spent most of the time this week implementing the changes that we made. This includes 2 new scenes in Level 3. I realized that I forgot to ask for a graphic of a message box, so I went to a previous level, took the message box from there, and edited it to put it into the game. It looks great! I could be an artist one day!

Jokes aside, the drag and drop issues continue to be a hassle, as I continue to research (in vain) for a way to search for it. I faced a major problem in level 4. I had always used the height and the width to handle drop target checking due to a problem that I thought was a flash problem, but I couldn’t now, as all of them are of the same height and width! I asked Mr. Chong Ming for help. He helped me debug and explain about some flash things, and I realize that I have to use e.target.dropTarget.parent.name instead of e.target.dropTarget.name. Did a lot of editing to all drag and drop games.
30th August 2009 Week 21

I finish all levels this week. Currently I’m trying to solve the bugs. I realize that most bugs are created by unremoved event listener. Flash is really a troublesome software as the timeline might be confusing. Hopefully all bugs will be gone.

I got the art from Meiyi and I'm done with the animations!!..I also manage to add in the sounds this week!!...haha...but after Mr Chong Ming saw the animations, he suggested that I should add in subtitles because the sounds are a bit muffled. I don't really like the way the sound turns out...Within flash, it sounds fine but when we play it as an swf,the sounds are horrible and muffled...So this week I spent quite some time editing the sound trying to change the dynamics to make it sound clearer but there was not that much of a difference. As of now, I'm focusing on the subtitles. Typing them out 1st and then synching them to the sounds which is really hard!!..and yet again, time consuming...but perseverance is key!!...

Week: 20

For this week, I added more graphics and scenes for my level. These ideas were brought up by Wee You. He told me what I could have improved for the level game play. I agreed with his idea and started drawing two more scenes for that level. One is a forest scene and the other is a beach scene.I also drew more things in it to enhance the level. Hopefully we can complete it on time.

This week I have helped Yani with her animation drawing. She gave me a list on what she needed for her animation. I have helped her on different views of the professor leong. This week we have also showed our teacher the game prototype. He told me to improve on certain things in the level. For example, sir stamford raffles was kidnapped and was tied down by the terrorists. He commented that it would be better if Raffles was implemented with some animation. Because previously I just drew him in one fixed position when he was being tied up. So it does not look realistic. Raffles should be struggling and not just stay stiffed. So for this part, I made an animation of his body moving forward and backward as if he was struggling and his mouth was animated too.

I have already completed my level graphics. This week I have helped Wee You to improve on my levels drawing. Because there are certain things that he needed for the level. So i just helped him on what he needed. We also discussed on the design of the game play so as to make it easily understood for players.

23 August 2009 Week 20

Name: Wee You

Meiyi passed me some new graphics; hence I replaced the old ones and tweak some codes here and there. Spent most of the time playtesting and finding bugs. I listed out some bugs which I could not solve yet, and started working on them. All my games with drag and drop involved has bugs ‘cos they all uses the same code. More work to be done. Also, I discussed with Meiyi about some game design issues in Level 3.

Oh, and I was told that Level 1 is going to get a revamp! Means more more work..

Yes!!...This week I had a fruitful week!...Done with level animations up till level 9!!!...left one more level then I can add in the sound fx and music...if there is time left, I mite edit some stuff..

I finish level 9 but with bugs. I leave it alone first and continue to do my level10. Level10 first two stages is quite easy as it’s maze hence the code is the same. I’m doing the bomb stage of level10 now

16 August 2009 Week 19

Name: Wee You

Level 4 part3 is finally completed! I learnt to use substrings to increase the efficiency of my program. Now, instead of using a long switch case statement, I would just need one if else to achieve the same goal.

Linked my whole level 4 together, so it is now more or less done!

This week, I complete level 9 till scene 3. Left with the last stage which is the close passage. I finally got the level 10 graphic. Hopefully I can finish level 9 this week.

Meiyi is still drawing out the stuff I asked her...She spent the last week improving the graphics for her levels so this week she'll try to finish it. I've started levels 5 and 6 animations an am done with editing the sounds and the background music.

Hopefully within the next 2 weeks I'm able to finish up the animations and add in the sounds....

9 August 2009 Week 18

Name: Wee You

I discussed the recipes with Meiyi today. Clicking the recipe button will make the recipe appear. We decided to have a button for the user to close the recipe too. She did that and I implemented it in into the game.

I also started work on Level 4 part three. Clicking on a mooncake will generate a random text, using a random algorithm that I have written. Happy National Day!
9 August 2009 Week 18

I didn’t do much this week except trying to do the 2nd scene walls as I’m working on my mobile game programming project this week. The walls seems fine to me but I won’t know whether it works till I add in codes to move the player.

I'm about done with levels 2 and 3 and hopefully I'm able to start on level 4...I realised I needed some more art for my animations so I sought Meiyi's help. I need different views for some of the characters...

While she's doing all that, I continued editing the sounds for the different levels...Everything is coming to a close soon!!...soooo we gotta work fast!!!...

2nd August 2009 Week 17

Name: Wee You

Created an interface for Level 4 part one. Because the player have two parts of the food to prepare, modifications to the x y formulas has to be done. Also, I created a text to inform the user if they completed the first part.
Also, I realized I completely missed out the third part of Level Four! And I thought I was finishing..damn.
2nd August 2009 Week 17

Started on level 9 this week. Was coding the first where we give the players clues on where are things kept in the 2nd scene. Got a hard time thinking of the hint. Haha. Anyway, the scene is almost finish. Let’s hope it works perfectly fine. When I link it with other stages.

This week I've been concentrating more on the school assignments as it's due soon and yes!!..I manage to finish level 1 animation and started level 2 and 3...I've gotten quite the hang of it now...

I got to do faster because I still have to add in the sounds for the game and edit the game music and time is running out!!...Also, school assignments are due real soon!!!...
